Duh!

This is Andrea coming on to add what Mina forgot. She rolled over from her back to her stomach at her appointment. The doctor was impressed and we cheered her on.

Perfectly Healthy

I had my 2 month checkup today and it went okay. I've really grown since my 2 week appointment. In fact, the nurse thought I was older than 2 months by looking at my size and bright eyes. I weighed 12.32 pounds (86%) and I'm 23.43 inches (88%) long. No wonder I'm growing out of my clothes. I screamed during much of the appointment, even before the shots. Mommy had to resort to the Mina Chant and feeding me to get me to calm down. Mommy did very well at the appointment. She didn't cry when I cried and remained calm. She told me to be a strong woman and that she had to get lots more shots than I did in order to create me. She also got a little feisty and said something about knowing I didn't need to be supplemented. I fell asleep as soon as we left the doctor's office. My next appointment is May 2nd when I'm 4 months old.

Daddy starts his neurosurgery rotation tomorrow. He'll work 5am-5pm Monday through Friday and then 5am-? on Sundays and work this Saturday only because it's the first of the month. That means he'll have to get up very, very early in the morning so we'll all have to go to bed early so he can get some sleep. It won't hurt me to start an earlier bedtime. That's all for now. Hopefully daddy will get home soon since I didn't get to see him at all yesterday.

Unpredictable is Right!

So last night I decided to sleep like I've never slept before. I slept from about 9:15-5am and then from 5:15-8am. I was just so worn out from fussing the other day that I had to make up for it. On top of that, I was a happy baby all day yesterday. Daddy got home from work early so I got to see him. I also got a bath and massage right before bedtime.

Mommy dressed me up today because she had the energy. We aren't planning to leave the house, but she enjoys seeing me look extra cute. I'm averaging two outfits per day since I have leaks here and there. How embarassing! I hope you enjoy the new baby legs pictures.

My Lungs Work!

I decided to challenge my parents today. I've had plenty to eat, my diaper is clean, I don't seem to have gas, and I've had plenty to sleep, but I'm screaming at the top of my lungs whenever I'm not sleeping or eating today. Mommy handed me over to daddy as soon as he walked in the door. Maybe she'll take a shower finally. I get my shots on Friday so I'm just preparing them for the fussiness that will inevitably follow. I'm still cute though.

Mommy can get me to stop crying by doing an Indian chant. Here's how it goes: "Doh-o-oon't cry Mi-e-na. Your mommy loves yooou. Your daddy loves yooou." Now repeat that at least a hundred times and prop me up high on your shoulder while walking around the house. Mommy is just being lazy and won't continue that for more than an hour.

Mommy's milk really agrees with me. I have a feeling this is one of those pictures mommy and daddy are going to hold over my head. You know you want to kiss my belly! Thanks for taking my picture, Grandma Nancy.

Soooooo Big!

Mommy put me in size 3-6 month clothes today and they fit well. This was her favorite outfit that she bought for me the day she found out that I was a little girl. Here I am about 10 minutes later. I usually don't sleep in my play gym at all. Maybe I'll start sleeping on my back more and stop insisting on sleeping in the vibrating chair.
I had a wonderful time with grandma. She finally got here on Wednesday and stayed until Saturday morning. We snuggled lots and she held me on my belly just like I like it. We went shopping and mommy fed me in the middle of the mall because I was screaming at the top of my lungs after I dirtied my diaper. Grandma cut the baby wrap for me and mommy has tried it out a couple of times. The jury is still out on whether I like it or not. Grandma also watched me and mommy and daddy went on a date. They came back with a present for me so I didn't mind. I can't wait until I see grandma again. She's fun!

On Saturday I went to a baby shower. I haven't heard mommy laugh that much before. She is happy when she's with her friends. Her friend Amanda has a very cute belly. I enjoyed getting passed around by the ladies. I even gave mommy a break and didn't cry in the car at all. I was glad to see daddy on Saturday since I hadn't seen him much this week. He's such a busy guy.

My other grandparents came today. We went to a restaurant and I cried because my tummy hurt. I fell asleep a few minutes before we left though. Grandpa and grandma gave me lots and lots of attention and took pictures of me. They're going to be in Arizona for a couple of weeks so I'll miss them.

I've been drooling a lot this week and chewing on my hand. I put two of my fingers in my mouth today like mommy used to do when she was a baby. My neck is getting strong also. I heard Eminem for the first time today and I smiled when mommy sang along. She said that the lyrics were inappropriate for me. My favorite thing is the mylar balloon above my changing table. I need to get another one since the other one isn't floating anymore. Well, that's all for now. I think I'm going to hang out in my swing for a while. I need to get in some sleep so mommy can be entertained by me all night long. Daddy is sleeping at the hospital so I don't want her to get lonely. She loves to feed me in the middle of the night.

Grandma's Big Adventure

Grandma didn't make it here on Monday. In fact, she isn't even here yet. She got stuck in Grundy Center Monday afternoon. The roads were drifted over and icy. She was very scared so she stayed at her friends' house. Tuesday she made it to Waterloo and travel was still not advised for some of the roads so she stayed at Great Grandma H.'s house. She's now on her way and will be here in the next hour. I'm going to give her some lovin'! She's going to stay until Saturday morning so I'll still get some grandma time.

Mommy and daddy are going to take advantage of grandma and go on their first date since I've been around. Mommy will also work on some projects with grandma too. Euclid is barking...I wonder if it's grandma at the door.

YAY!

Grandma is on her way! I hope she drives safely. I'll definitely make it worth her while with smiles and cuddles.

Miss Grumpy Pants

Mommy told me that Grandma H might not come to stay with us because the roads are bad. I hope they improve! The pictures were my reaction when mommy told me she might not be here to snuggle me today. I'm a grumpy baby.

I had a very fun weekend with mommy and daddy. We went out for sushi on Saturday night. I slept the whole time, but boy did that milk taste good when we got home!

Mommy did some shopping for me this weekend. So far she hasn't bought anything, but she's going to get me an exersaucer soon. I love to kick daddy and mommy when they hold me so she thinks I need an outlet to exercise my legs. They also have some fun jumperoos and one even got 5 stars at BRU. Also, mom is curious about how she's going to feed me in a few months so she's going to buy Super Baby Food to learn all about baby nutrition. She's also giving in and getting a Baby Bjorn so that daddy can wear me. She's making herself a knockoff moby wrap sometime when grandma comes. Mommy should get sponsors for her website with all of her links!

Valentine's Day

I don't like Valentine's Day at all. I screamed most of the morning because mommy kept putting me down. She was baking goodies for daddy and cooking a dinner. She still hasn't figured out that I'm completely in charge. I settled down by the afternoon though and slept during most of her doctor appointment. I heard things like "stitches still there..it could take 6 months until you feel completely normal..you're healing well even though she did a number on you..this is to be expected with a forceps delivery." I was happy once daddy came home and we got out of the hospital. I can snuggle him without getting hungry from the way he feels and smells.

I'm in a great mood today. Mommy was able to get a bunch of pictures of me smiling after my first out of bed feeding this morning. I slept well last night and I'm wearing a cute outfit I got from my mommy's friend Jenny.

Also, mommy told me to tell you that she changed the settings so you can comment anonymously again (yes, my vocabulary is extensive). We like comments!

Funny Dream

Apparently I take after my mother when it comes to sleeping. She was holding me on Monday during my afternoon nap and I giggled in my sleep. I don't remember my dream, but it was very funny. Mommy thought it was the cutest thing in the world. Her roommate in college told her that she laughs in her sleep too.

We've had a boring few days just hanging out at home. This cold, snowy weather is getting old. I want to experience something new. Mommy has a doctor's appointment tomorrow so I'll get out of the house then. However, I don't enjoy my carseat or the car these days. I scream off and on when we go places. That will make things exciting for mommy tomorrow.

Baptism

I was baptised yesterday. Here I am with mommy and daddy. I like my pink and blue prayer shawl.My Godparents are Aunt Claudia and Uncle Matt, or GPs as the like to be called. They did a good job keeping me calm in church. Uncle Matt has the magic touch.I love my cousins. Here's a picture of me with Macy, Anya, and Hailey at the baptism luncheon. They were very good at holding me. I can't wait until I'm big enough to run around and play with them!

Proof of Sleep

Go Cyclones! This is my favorite fleece blanket that mommy made for me. She just got a piece of fleece from Hobby Lobby and blanket stitched the edges. That's a huge feat for her since she isn't a very crafty person. She bought some hot air balloon fabric today and needs to figure out a new project for me. Mommy has gotten better at sleeping with me. Daddy even took a picture of it the other day. We've taken naps together the last two afternoons. Unfortunately I haven't been sleeping long the last couple of nights because my diapers get dirty and it wakes me up. I go back to sleep pretty easily most of the time though so mommy and daddy don't mind. Well, except last night when mommy was confused and thought daddy woke me up for fun at about 2am.

We had fun visiting friends in Des Moines on Sunday. I slept through the Super Bowl and was admired by all. Mommy was so excited to see other adults that she forgot to take any pictures. My friend Gavin is loaning me his swing and mommy took a picture of me sleeping in it yesterday.Mommy and daddy continue to make me smile. Mommy thinks it's at least 10 times cuter in person, but here's a picture.

STTN?

Most people don't know what STTN stands for and up until this point, my parents haven't even been close to experiencing STTN with me. That all changed last night. STTN stands for Sleeping Through The Night. I decided to throw them a bone and let them get a good night's sleep. I ate from about 9:30-10pm, slept until about 4:30am, ate until about 5, then played in my play gym while mommy slept until about 7:30. That was a tremendous amount of sleep. However, mommy woke up at about 3:30am to check that I was breathing because her body told her it was time for me to eat.

Mommy has found a dependable way to get me to smile. Now she needs to figure out how to get a picture of it. I look even more like daddy when I have a big grin on my face. For some reason she can't get pictures to download right now so no new pictures for the moment. Sorry!

We're going to Des Moines tomorrow. It will be fun to see friends and do some shopping.
