Vacation!

Daddy's vacation started at 5pm today! Yay!!!
I met my Great Grandma today. Here's the requisite four generations picture. They all admired me.
Doesn't Daddy look cute with longer hair? I love to pull on it.

We're going out of town sometime tomorrow and will return on Sunday so I may not update until Monday. We'll have lots of pictures though!

Never a Dull Moment

I had a fun weekend. On Saturday I kept my parents up most of the night. I got up at 9, 10, 11, 4 (when I got taken into Mommy and Daddy's bed) and was up for the day on Saturday around 7. I slept well last night and just needed some attention at 10:30. I also gave some challenges with my diaper changes. Mommy got a nice surprise from me yesterday that necessitated an immediate bath, a good scrubbing of her hands and arms, and a load of laundry. Daddy was never so happy to be doing other work around the house to keep him otherwise occupied.

I went to two graduation parties yesterday. I was very well-behaved and enjoyed myself. I took a nap at the first one after smiling at people and meeting some other kids. I enjoyed looking at the balloons and candies at the other party. I met some Wilton people for the second time and I was a whole different girl. They all said I was much happier and quieter than the last time they saw me. I didn't scream at any of them, even when they touched my feet and talked to me. Mommy talked about math and got excited. There was even a nice girl that offered to babysit sometime. Mommy is always with me so that would be strange. Why would she ever want to leave me?

Daddy and Mommy might stop swaddling me. I fight my way out of my straight jacket almost immediately these days. My sleep is already not as fantastic as it was, so the "it's not broke, so don't fix it" attitude of the past is slipping away. Plus, I was really hot last night and I woke up grumpy this morning. I'm usually extremely happy in the morning.

Today's plan is to hang out with Mommy and try avocado. So far my favorite food is sweet potatoes. I like bananas okay, but Mommy grimaces while she feeds it to me and it kind of turns me off. Mommy doesn't like the smell of bananas (or donuts or maple syrup, but she won't be feeding those to me). She loves avocado so maybe I will too. We'll visit Daddy at the hospital if he gets some free time to eat. He always seems to get stuck with in hospital call on Monday holidays. He has a mandible fracture to fix at some point today. Only two years of residency left and then I can live closer to my grandparents and see a lot more of Daddy!

Tomorrow I get to meet my fourth great grandma. This one is Grandpa D's mom. Grandpa and Grandma are bringing her to my house to visit. Daddy has vacation starting Wednesday so we're going to head west to visit family for a few days. Mommy has been preparing for being away from home. She got a travel-sized swing and a doorway jumper so that I'll have a place to relax and somewhere to exercise.

Sorry no pictures today, Mommy was too busy enjoying me to even think about a camera the last few days. Oh, and maybe next time, Gavin. It will be fun to see you again (and see how your Mommy's belly bump is growing).

Little Faith

Mommy and Daddy didn't have much faith in my ability to sleep in my crib. They thought there was some sort of magic mojo connected to my chair, but they were wrong. I slept from 8pm-6:30am last night. I needed my beauty sleep! I was pretty tuckered out from all the screaming and nap resisting I did yesterday.

It's Friday and Daddy got another weekend off. That means lots of snuggling and playing with him again. He also has next Wednesday - Saturday off so I'm going to get a lot of Daddy Time. It's a good thing because Mommy desperately needs a break now that I'm so good at fighting naps.

I hope that my cousin is born by the time we go to visit family again. He isn't due until June 13th, but Mommy says he'd be just fine if he was born now. It will be so fun to have a cousin that's only 5 months younger than me. Aunt Emily needs to have that little baby in her arms where he belongs. Mommy says that Emmie went through a lot to get her Leif. I hope that she has an easy labor and Cousin Leif doesn't create as much havoc as I did on my birthday!

Good Morning

Good morning everyone! Wouldn't you have loved to see my face at a little before 4am? Mommy didn't mind it. I slept for about 8 hours in my first stretch of sleep WITHOUT by bouncer chair. It was so fun getting up that I got up again at 5am. Daddy picked me up and rocked me, but that wasn't nearly as good as Mommy. He handed me off so I could eat some more. After that, Mommy and I snuggled in bed until almost 8am. She fed me lots and kept me happy.
I played with my piano this morning. I used to just kick it, but I won't be able to do it that way when I'm older so Mommy had me sit up and use my hands. I really only used my right hand since my left was holding me up. Just call me tripod!
It's time for Mommy to get me a new Mylar balloon. My Care Bears balloon lasted for 2.5 months. It's fun to play with it now that it doesn't float away.

Have a great day! I know I'll have a good one. I've decided to not take any naps so far. Mommy loves it when I do that!

No More Bouncer

As many of you know, I've been sleeping in my infant seat/bouncer every night since I was about a week old. I was congested and as soon as they put me in my seat which inclined my head, I gave them much longer stretches of sleep. Daddy and Mommy were willing to let me sleep in a recliner the rest of my life like Great Grandma R. Plus, Mommy worried about me less since I couldn't really move in my seat. In fact, they didn't even strap me in so it was easy to transfer me from arms to bed.

The first sign of this changing came on Monday. Mommy took a bath with me (which I loved and I didn't poo to Mommy's relief) and then put me into the seat that was set up right by the tub. I was able to surge my whole body up into the air except for my head. I looked like a fish out of water according to Mommy. Then there's my rolling ability. I make it my personal mission to roll from back to belly almost as soon as I'm put down on a quilt or in my play gym. I'm very strong. Mommy figured the seat was still safe at night since they swaddle me. I generally use my legs a lot to roll.

Skip to this morning at about 6:30. I slept for 10 hours and then called for Mommy when I was ready to get up. She took a couple of minutes to respond. In that space of time I was finally able to accomplish a roll in my bouncer with my swaddle still on my legs. Unfortunately, once I got onto my belly, I realized that the shape of the seat did not conform well to that position. It was darn uncomfortable. I wasn't too happy. Mommy got me out of the bouncer pretty quickly. She says that from now on, the seat will not be allowed in the bed and I have to be strapped in every time.

I hope I'm able to sleep as well without my chair. I generally sleep at least 8 hours straight before I need anything from Mommy. I guess Mommy and Daddy will see what happens.

We have sitting!

Daddy tried to have me sit by myself on Friday and I fell on my face. Mommy tried it today and I slowly folded in half, then lifted my chest up to sitting. Awesome! I was proud of myself. Daddy was smiling at me so I had to flirt back.
Mommy took pictures from every angle.
Euclid even cheered me on.
I also enjoyed kicking my piano today.
When I was done sitting, I showed off my rolling abilities. I started in the middle of the quilt on my back and then rolled a few times until I got jammed up against the couch. I can roll both belly to back and back to belly, but just the one direction for each.
I even had enough energy to pose for pictures after I was done rolling.
I've had a great weekend. I'll miss Daddy when he goes back to work tomorrow.

TGIF Pictures

I wore a new pair of jeans yesterday. Mommy got out the camera because I looked so cute. I can sit in the green chair by myself now!
I turned my head towards the TV when I was sitting in the bumbo, but Mommy didn't turn it on for me. All she did was kiss my neck!
As you can see, I'm starting to grow hair on the top of my head again. It's fuzzy so Mommy and Daddy hope it has a bit of curl to it like Daddy's hair.
The bumbo is handy for examining my feet. However, I can't quite chew on my feet while in the bumbo.Daddy flew me like an airplane when he got home. I wasn't so sure of it at first.
I realized it was fun pretty quickly.
Daddy thought it was fun too.
Daddy's hands were full when he came down the stairs so I took advantage of the situation. I sucked on his bottle. Don't worry, they didn't let me drink any!
I can already tell Daddy is going to embarass me as a teenager. Check out his brown shoes, white socks, and shorts. Sigh...
And here I am in one of my favorite places, on Mommy's lap on the swing outside.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'm going to be busy with Daddy so I might not check in again. He's going to smoke some chicken on his smoker today and we're going to enjoy the beautiful weather.
