Settling In

Mommy finally has the time and energy to update the blog. Hooray! We've been so busy and Charlotte and I don't take our naps at the same time anymore. So here you go...

I picked out a rock from the old house and brought it to the new house. We stopped at Daddy's pinning ceremony on the way out of town and I got a cool new toy (that has disappeared).Daddy put a pin on the map to show where he's going to practice.Mommy gave me a private tour of our new house after she signed all the paperwork. She told me that the final walk through was crazy. She found a feral cat in a drawer in the garage and the basement carpet was wet from an exploded water heater. Everything has been taken care of since. There's a pirate ship in our basement. It rocks.Mommy returned to the old house and left me in the care of family for the remainder of the move. Here's what my room looked like all packed up. Charlotte borrowed my bed for a couple of nights so it didn't get packed until the last minute. The last minute.Daddy and Mommy went to a party the night before all my toys arrived at the new house. Mommy had to say goodbye to Jamie. We miss her (and Matthew and F & H).Daddy came for a day during that first weekend and we did a party night in the new house. I surprised them by eating some of Mommy's messy spaghetti. Fazoli's food is tasty.Grandpa came and helped put me to bed every night that Daddy wasn't around to help. Mommy would have been much more stressed out without everyone's help. Nana and Papa came to the rescue a couple of days and Grandma came too. Mommy got some unpacking done and even got to put her feet up here and there. Our gazebo is fun to play in. It's like a big playhouse. There was a wasp in there one morning so Grandma and Mommy made me leave quickly. I thought bugs were nice, but I guess not all bugs are nice. For some reason my parents are having a hard time doing the unpacking.I've enjoyed using my old toys. They don't fit like they used to.Leif, Milo, and Emily came over to play on Friday. We did sidewalk chalk in the garage because it was raining. It's been doing a lot of that.I was so happy to see my daddy that I didn't want to pause to pose for the camera. I hadn't seen him for almost a week.Daddy made Mommy a margarita. She earned it from all of her hard work while he was finishing up his residency (and living it up at Great Aunt Shirley's house). It's been storming a bunch. It's fun watching the storm clouds roll in from our deck.We went over to Nana and Papa's house for Father's Day and I loved my food. We had homemade ice cream for dessert.Mommy tricked me into smiling for the camera. The cheesy grin phase only lasted a couple of weeks and now I'm back to not enjoying getting my picture taken. We went to Chen Garden tonight and had Chinese buffet. I loved the chicken, fish, pears, and fried rice with soy sauce. My parents were amazed by all that I ate and how wonderful I acted. Charlotte was good too. I've been a love bug lately (for the most part). I'm so much happier now that we're settling in to our new house and I LOVE seeing the rest of the family so often. Bubba loves the new house too. He finally has the yard he deserves.

Home Sweet Home

We're in our new house! Mommy doesn't have the ability to load pictures right now so you'll have to wait a week or so. Now that we're in the same town as family, there's not as much of a pressing need to blog.

I enjoyed staying with Nana and Papa and then with The Big One (Emily) and family. In fact, I think I'd rather just live with anyone but Mommy. She's no fun in comparison and our house is full of boxes.

Charlotte is rolling like crazy and as Mommy typed this she pushed up with her arms and had them fully extended with her head up and steady. She'll be crawling soon. She also started sitting this week.

We miss Daddy. My parents have been happily married for 8 years today. That's like forever (well, it will be). 186 to Daddy.

Goodbye Coralville

I'm leaving in a couple of days, but I thought I'd do one last post before we go. It might be a while before Mommy is able to get going with the blogs again.

We had a final play date at Kent Park on Friday morning.I had a snack with my main man.Charlotte played on the picnic blanket.Does anyone know sign language? What is he trying to say?Matthew's mom and Alaina are always up for a good time.Fat & Happy - that's her nickname. No one can resist Alaina.Charlotte fell asleep after gnawing on Sofie for a while.Matthew gave me some kisses.Alaina refused to pose with Charlotte and kept wanting to practice rolling instead. I wonder if Charlotte will start to roll soon?!Cooperation by F & H and sleeping by Charlotte. We're happy kids.Twin butts. This was after they had dried off some from the slides.F & H modelling some cool shades.I love to lay by babies on the blanket. We also got together with Matthew, Jamie, and Alaina on Wednesday morning.Kissing, as usual. I wonder how old we'll be when our mommies stop encouraging it.We also played at Matthew's table. Mommy is going to get me one just like it for our new play room.Bubba needed some snuggling the other night. I'm wearing my favorite jammies in this picture. I wish I could wear them all day every day.We went on a picnic supper the other day and it was fun.Mommy took a bunch of pictures around the house so I'd be able to have them to look back at later. She tried to get a good picture of us together and got a bunch of pictures that looked like this. This was the only good one out of the whole batch. Here I am in my sleep sack. Sleep sacks are awesome.I got a new teddy bear and named her Lindsay. She's a cheerleader. Go Cyclones!
Mommy has to cut this off for now. I'll try to have her do Charlotte's blog one last time tomorrow.

Spontaneity

Spontaneity is not usually Mommy's strong suit, but she had to get creative this morning. The smoke alarm went off when she was baking something so she decided to use the self clean function on the oven afterwards. The smoke alarm went off again...and wouldn't stop, so she loaded all of us up really quickly and we had to find something to do. We went to a pharmacy, stopped at McDonald's (because she hadn't grabbed enough of a breakfast for me), and then drove to a park. I asked to get out to play, so we did for an hour or so. Mommy remembered the camera in the rush to leave. Good thinking, huh?

Peekaboo!
Hello, down there. Is the slide too hot?Nope! It's fun.Charlotte chased the shade in the stroller for a while.Happy girl! She snuggled Mommy in bed for about four hours this morning so that put a twinkle in her eye. Silly girl refused to nurse yesterday and would only drink out of a bottle so Mommy didn't mind nursing her in bed for so long. Daddy had to go sleep on the couch though 'cause Baby Cakes is a bed hog.Weeeee!Charlotte nursed (yay!) and then got a diaper change on a picnic table. We both enjoy getting changed outside.

We went out to eat this past weekend and I graduated to a booster seat. Charlotte is going to start solids someday so it was time for me to move on. I did a great job. We went to Quinton's and I pointed out where Grandma spilled her pop.

I'll be in Fort Dodge at this time next week, blissfully napping at Nana and Papa's house after getting to play in my new house for a little while. I bet time will fly. We have a playdate tomorrow morning and we're going to a park on Friday morning. Nana and Papa are coming on Saturday so my parents can go to a party. They're leaving on Sunday and we're going to have our final "party night" in this house. Daddy has a ceremony on Monday and then we're heading HOME. I can't wait to see all my cousins. Kids are my favorite thing right now.
